1st verse
L’auba vèn su la coulina
Announcèn un bèu festin,
Nanoun mette capelina
Per lou soulèu dou matin.
Lu jardin plèn de flouretta
Oublidon lou frei janvié ;
Mountèn, garsoun e fiheta,
Toui au festin de Cimiès.
 Dawn comes on the hill
Forecasting a beautiful feast,
Ann puts on [her] capelina
Because of the sun of the morning.
The gardens full of little flowers
Forget the cold january;
Let’s go up, boys and girls,
All to feast of Cimiez.

Chorus
À Cimiès, damoun, (twice)
Anerèn cadun me la calignèra
Per lu Cougourdoun. (twice)
Lèu li danserèn un bèu rigoudoun,
À Cimiès, damoun. (twice)
Li aurà chaudèu e pissaladièra
À Cimiès, damoun, (twice)
Cadun canta, manja, croumpa lou cougourdoun.
 At Cimiez, up there, (twice)
We will go with the loved girl
For the Small Gourds. (twice)
Quickly, we will dance a nice rigadoon,
At Cimiez, up there, (twice)
There will be “scalded” and pissaladièra (1)
At Cimiez, up there, (twice)
Every one sings, eats, buys the small gourd.

2nd verse
Lou soulèu es de la festa,
L’aria n’es plèn de cansoun.
Lou printèm mounta à la testa
E n’en douna de frissoun.
Si bèu fresc en li guingueta,
Cadun pia lou perdoun
Tout en tastan li faveta
Au festin dai Cougourdoun.
The sun takes part in the feast,
The air is full of songs.
The spring goes to the head
And gives us thrills.
It’s drunk cool in the open-air cafés,
Every one takes the atonement (2)
While tasting the small French beans
At feast of Small Gourds.

3rd verse
Pi, coura revèn la luna,
Calerèn dòu viei camin,
Cadun me la sièu caduna
En cantèn aquèu bouon vin !
Passèn vitou la semana
Per retrovà à Cimiès
Madaloun o ben Suzana
À l’oumbra dai oulivié.
 Then, when moon comes back,
We will go down by the old lane,
Every boy with his girl
While singing this good wine!
Let’s pass quickly the week
To find again at Cimiez
Magdalen or Suzan
In the shade of olive trees.

1. Provençal pizza with onions, anchovy fillets and olives.
2. The secular feast was joined to a religious feast. The forgiveness corresponds to the remission of misdeeds or sins committed during the preceding year, since previous feast of Small Gourds.
