Nicolas Saboly has proposed two versions for this Christmas carol, whose first one is on familiar tune Quand vous serez, etc. (When you will be...). The 2nd verse refers to seditions and bloody struggles which have happened in Avignon from 1652 to 1665, and known as “Fronde avignonaise”. See also Viven urous e countènt.
This Christmas carol has been published on 1668 in the 1st book. It appears with number 7 in the Fr. Seguin’s new edition.
