Nicolas Saboly has proposed three versions for this Christmas carol, whose first one is on familiar tune Allant au marché ce matin (Going to market this morning).
This Christmas carol has been published on 1668 in the 1st book. It appears with number 9 in the Fr. Seguin’s new edition.

Counten quauco sourneto ;
Sus lou fifre e lou tambourin,
Disen la cansouneto.
Canten Nouvè, Nouvè, Nouvè, Nouvè sus la museto. | | To not languishing along the lane,
Let’s tell a few balderdash;
On the fife and the tambourin,
Let’s say the ditty.

Lou tèms nous a gaire dura :
Ves’eici la granjeto.
Lou bèu premié que li intrara,
