E lou fus virava
Sensa s’aresta.		 Rosy was spinning
In the middle of the meadow,
And the spindle was turning
Without stopping.

2nd verse
Rouseta scoutava
Lou merlou cantà,
Ma toujou pensava
Au siéu bèu sourdà.		 Rosy was listening
The blackbird singing,
But always she was thinking
About her handsome soldier.

3rd verse
Rouseta ’sperava,
Lou ciel era blu,
Ma l’oura passava...
E n’es pas vengut !		 Rosy was hoping,
The sky was blue,
But the hour went by...
And he didn’t come!

Rouseta plourava,
