Chut ! teisas-vous (Shush! Shut up!) Lyrics by Nicolas Saboly, known as Micoulau Sabòli. Traditional from Provence. Tune “of the echo” (remote trumpet sound, the shepherds, an angel).
This Christmas carol has been published on 1669 in the 2nd book. It appears with number 14 in the Fr. Seguin’s new edition.

1. Tararo poun poun ! onomatopoeia of the trumpet sound. 2. Ecò : in Greek mythology, Echo is the nymph of Springs and Forests, who personifies the echo. 3. Auto ! interjection indicating encouragement.
