L’or e l’argèn que pea mai que rèn.
  La chaise d’or qui pèse plus que l’or,
L’or et l’argent qui pèsent plus que rien.

Cigarette, cigarò
Sien anat la cal’ ai figa,
Cigarette, cigarò,
Se lou pètou n’en pessuga,
Cigarette, cigarò.
 Nous sommes allés chaparder des figues,
Cigarette, cigarò,
Si le gars (1) nous attrape,
Cigarette, cigarò.

(1) Pètou, Pierre, est souvent utilisé pour désigner familièrement « un gars », « un type ».

Dalin, dalan, Piedmont origin
Dalin, dalan, es mouort un can,
L’enterreran deman.
Dalin, dalan, es mouort un can,
Un can boujin (2) que si souona Jouanin.
 Clopin-clopant, un chien est mort,
Ils l’enterreront demain.
Clopin-clopant, un chien est mort,
Un « chien-veau » qui s’appelle Jeannot.

(2) Boujin, du piémontais boucin, veau.
Boujin peut être remplacé par pichin, petit, ce qui inverse alors totalement la signification.

Fa-li petà la mouostra (Squeeze him his watch)
Es la cansoun,
Tire-li un còu de poun,
Mette-lou en un cantoun,
Fa-li petà la mouostra !
  C’est la chanson,
Tire-lui un coup de poing,
Mets-le dans un coin,
Soutire-lui la montre (3) !

(3) À rapprocher de l'expression levà li mouòstra, qui signifie détaler.
