(The Feast of the Small Gourds)
Nissart lyrics by Jòrgi Tasso, music by Maurice Adolphe Caruba.

1st verse
When comes the spring in Nice the beautiful,
To Cimiez we will go up to all feast.
Taking the grass as a table, a lot of families
Beneath the old olive trees come to stuff themselves.

Au festin dei Cougourdoun
Que n’an legat lu nouostre antenat,
Mantenen li tradicioun,
Faguen balà li filha, lu garçoun.
Ancuèi sian toui urous, li a touplen d’amourous,
Es lou festin dòu rire e dai cansoun.
At the feast of the Small Gourds
That we inherited from our ancestors,
We maintain the traditions,
Let’s make and dance the girls, the boys.
Today, all of us are happy, there is a lot of lovers,
It must be the sun that makes us see beautiful everything.
The feast of the Small Gourds
Is the feast of laugh and songs.

2nd verse
In the square up there, entirely plumed,
It’s the feast of the small gourds, all of them are decorated.
There are also “scalded” and “wet bread”,
All of this, with the sun, make us delight.

3rd verse
When comes the twilight, the feast finishes.
So everyone’s heart is all anxious,
Hope makes a lot, with confidence,
Thinking of the year coming, that everything will come back.
