La Poulalhera listen the Midi file for this traditional music tune score of this traditional tune
(The Poultrymaid)
Traditional from Piedmont.

When leaving her henhouse, the poultrymaid draw attention to her! The poulalhera character is caricatured enough to serve as a reference, cf. for instance in La Cansoun dai babarota.

This tune is often played in the County of Nice as a farandole.

1st verse
Poulalhera soun mandiana,
Dihon que li plas pas lou vin.
N’ai vist una l’autra sera, (twice)
Poulalhera soun mendiana,
Dihon que li plas pas lou vin.
N’ai vist una l’autra sera,
Larga e longa en lou camin.
 The poultrymaids are beggar (1),
They say they don’t like wine.
I saw one some other evening, (twice)
The poultrymaids are beggar,
They say they don’t like wine.
I saw one some other evening,
Broad and long on the lane (2).

She is more than one hour and half
To get her hair in curlers!
