Ti presti la miéu estuga.

As I have no table?
The tortoise answers him:
I lend you my carapace.
Marry me, oh! butterfly,
As table you will get enough.

9th verse
Couma mi mariderai,
Que de vin mancou noun ai ?
Respoundet lou moussilhoun :
Siéu lou mestre dou « canoun ».
Maride-ti, o parpaioun,
Que de vin n’auras proun.		 How will I get married,
As I have [even] less wine?
The midge answered:
I’m the master of the “glass of wine”.
Marry me, oh! butterfly,
As wine you will get enough.

10th verse
Couma mi mariderai,
Que de pitansa iéu noun ai ?
Li respouonde lou gros gari :
Siéu lou mestre de l’armari.
Maride-ti, o parpaioun,
Que de pitansa n’auras proun.		 How will I get married,
As I have no means of sustenance?
The fat rat answers him:
I’m the master of the cupboard.
Marry me, oh! butterfly,
As means of sustenance you will get enough.

Dou miéu cùu farai timbala,
Li respouonde la cigala.
Maride-ti, o parpaioun,

As I have no music?
With my ass I will make a kettledrum (2),
Answers him the cicada.
Marry me, oh! butterfly,
As music you will get enough.

12th verse
Couma mi mariderai,
Que de chambra iéu noun ai ?
Li respouonde la rateta :
Presterai la miéu chambreta.
Maride-ti, o parpaioun,
Que de chambra n’auras proun.		 How will I get married,
As I have no bedroom?
The mouse answers him:
I will lend my small bedroom.
Marry me, oh! butterfly,
As bedroom you will get enough.

When they got back from the holy mass,
With the gifts they gave their word,
Each animal came soon
And honour the new husband.
